    Common questions

    Which suburbs do you cover?

Anywhere within roughly 30 km of Melville. That includes Fremantle, Cockburn, Canning, South Perth and the western suburbs. If you're near the edge, call and ask.

What's the difference between a roofer and a roof plumber?

A roof plumber deals with everything that keeps water off and away from your home: roof sheeting, flashings, gutters and downpipes. That's why leaks are our main job.

My ceiling has a water stain. Where is the leak?

Often not directly above the stain. Water can run along sheets, battens or sarking before it drips. We inspect the roof itself to find the entry point, then fix that.

    Do you do emergency call-outs?

Yes. If a storm has damaged your roof or water is coming inside, call Ryan on 0411 305 511 and we'll get out to make it safe and watertight as soon as we can.

    What's in a roof report?

A professional PDF covering the condition of your roof: every problem we find, with photos and notes, plus the parts that are in good shape. It's written in plain English, so you don't need any roofing knowledge to understand it. It's useful before buying or selling a home, for insurance, or simply to know where you stand.

Do whirlybirds really help keep my house cool?

Yes. In summer the air in your roof space gets much hotter than outside, and that heat comes down through your ceilings. A whirlybird uses the breeze to draw the hot air out, which keeps the rooms below cooler and takes load off your air-conditioner. They need no power, so there are no running costs.

How do I get a quote?

Call 0411 305 511, email ryan@edgepointroofplumbing.com.au, or fill in the quote form at the top of this page. Include your suburb and photos if you can.

How often should my roof be checked?

Once a year is a good habit, ideally before winter, so blocked gutters, cracked pointing or lifted sheets get fixed before the rain arrives.
